Holiday Gifting | For the Gourmand

ROSE & IVY Journal Holiday Gifting | For the Gourmand Le District

Le District located in Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan is a true New York gem, especially for those gourmands that have an appreciation and passion for French cooking. Each aisle and section is stocked with products that will transport you to France including a patisserie, fromagerie, boucherie and Michelin starred restaurant, L’Appart.

Transport them to a French farmhouse with a rustic setting that includes a tangy chèvre served alongside a jar of sweet fig chutney. Elevate their cooking repertoire or their daily baguette with the king of butters, Le Beurre Bordier, which is revered by top chefs around the globe for its distinct and perfectly salted flavor. A L’Olivier produces a range of olive oils infused with flavors from the region—the Citron de Menton includes lemon zest from Menton, France, the Mediterranean town prized for its citrus. Hand-harvested from salt flats in Brittany, Fleur de Sel Guérande is the perfect finishing element to any dish or dessert.

ROSE & IVY Journal Holiday Gifting For the Francophile The Cook's Atelier Book

The Cook's Atelier: Recipes, Techniques, and Stories from Our French Cooking School by Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini

Mother and daughter duo Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini are two women after our own hearts. The pair fell in love with the joie de vivre of French culture and eventually moved to Beaune, the charming town in the heart of Burgundy from America. In 2008, they founded The Cook’s Atelier, a cooking school, boutique and wine shop to help spread their joy of French cooking. In their first book (we hope there are many more to come), they teach classic French techniques with 100 recipes inspired by the seasons. Flipping through the pages makes us feel so much joy and like booking a plane ticket to France immediately.
